Cost of building an apartment
The only way to get an accurate price is to ask an architect or a company for a quote. However, it is possible to estimate a price range in which the amount of your work will be located at the time of the visit.

Points to note during the visit
First of all, the overall look. Use common sense, but also ask the real estate agent if they know the date of the last renovation. It will not be a question of going into the details of what should be changed, but rather of estimating in which category the apartment or house is located:
- Refreshment
- Renovation
- Heavy renovation
Refreshment
A property that needs to be refreshed requires the repainting, the floors, and possibly the redoing of a bathroom or a kitchen. But the electricity is not entirely in need of revision, nor is the plumbing.
Renovation
Renovation concerns apartments that need to review the electrical installation, plumbing, bathrooms, kitchen and sometimes the frames.
Heavy renovation
In addition to renovation, these are properties whose rooms you will redistribute, break partitions or load-bearing walls (attention: if you buy a property in a condominium, you will need the agreement of the condominium), change the place of the kitchen...
Price of work per m²
The price ranges per m² for:
- Refreshments will be around 300 to 400 €/m²
- Renovation work between 1,200 and 1,500 €/m²
- A major renovation starting at €1,500/m²
Online work quotes
It is possible to obtain work quotes online on sites such as enchantier.com or 123devis.com. But there are many others. We also advise you to ask those around you if there are people who have had good experiences with an architect, a professional or a renovation company. There is nothing like experience to know the reliability of a craftsman!
